Benjamin “Bee” Waxler is the Artistic Founder of Love Gem, where everything is a gem, especially you! Bee’s first foray into jewelry making began at the young age of 7 when he learned how to make gimp bracelets in the arts and crafts cabin at Camp Caribou in Winslow, Maine. As an adult, he fell in love with making beaded bracelets during a stay at MacLean’s Psychiatric Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts. In the year after being discharged from MacLean’s, Bee spent countless hours on the streets of Boston making over 1000 beaded bracelets, which he gave away for free as good luck charms. In 2024 he discovered Common Art, a community of artists that gathers and creates art side by side every Wednesday at Emmanuel Church on Newbury Street in Boston. It was at Common Art where he learned and developed a passion for making wire-wrapped earrings. As he made friends at Common Art, Bee developed a motivation to sell his artwork, as the community instilled in him the fact that the time and effort he puts into each piece has value. He works hard to maintain good flow when handmaking a bracelet or pair of earrings and pours good, positive, loving energy into each piece.
Bee lives in East Cambridge, Massachusetts. He primarily works from his art desk at home, but also makes pieces at the wonderful free communal art studio that is Common Art on Wedgnesdays, where he is known to teach people bracelet making and wire wrapping one-on-one for free, for anyone who is curious. Bee is also known to occasionally make bracelets and pairs of earrings for people on the spot, and accepts commissions.
